Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Consent Loop ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

Description of Service

Consent Loop is a privacy-focused journaling platform that allows users to:

  • Write and store encrypted personal journal entries
  • Share selected entries with connections at configurable privacy levels
  • Track personal insights and patterns over time
  • Maintain complete control over their data

The Service is provided "as is" and we reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

Account Registration

To use the Service, you must:

  • Be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction)
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

You are responsible for safeguarding your account password and vault password. We cannot recover your vault password or decrypt your entries if you lose access.

Important: Vault Password

Your vault password is the key to your encrypted data. If you lose your vault password without setting up recovery options, your encrypted entries will be permanently inaccessible. We cannot help recover them.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on the rights of others
  • Distribute malware or engage in hacking activities
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity
  • Engage in any activity that could harm other users

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Your Content

You retain full ownership of all content you create using the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to:

  • Store your encrypted content on our servers
  • Transmit your content to devices you authorize
  • Process AI-generated summaries when you request them (processed in real-time, not stored)

We do not claim any ownership over your content and cannot read your encrypted entries.

Connection Sharing

The Service allows you to share entries with connections. When using this feature:

  • You control which entries are shared and at what abstraction level
  • You can revoke access at any time
  • Shared sessions automatically expire after 30 minutes
  • We are not responsible for how connections use shared information

Consent Loop does not verify connection credentials. You are responsible for verifying the identity and qualifications of anyone you share content with.

Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding user-generated content), features, and functionality are owned by Consent Loop and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of our Service without our express written permission.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • Defects will be corrected
  • The Service is free of viruses or harmful components
  • The results of using the Service will meet your requirements

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CONSENT LOOP SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

Not Medical Advice

Consent Loop is a journaling tool and does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice. The Service is not intended to:

  • Diagnose or treat any mental health condition
  • Replace professional mental health care
  • Serve as a crisis intervention tool

If You Need Help

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact emergency services or a crisis helpline immediately. In the US, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Consent Loop and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms. Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service will cease immediately
  • We may delete your account and data (after any required retention period)
  • Provisions that should survive termination will remain in effect

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it through the Service settings.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by posting the updated Terms and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Consent Loop operates, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
